Faolán the Political Activist

“It gets better – but recovery, like life, is never linear.”

Meet Faolán, a political activist with the Green Party based in Belfast. He describes himself as chaotic, thoughtful, and resilient — and most people are surprised to learn he’s also an organist, artist, and all-round musician. One highlight? Travelling to Limerick to play the only organ of its kind in Ireland.

His partner has stood by him through thick and thin, supporting his ambitions and growth. Faolán recalls powerful memories — like going fishing with his dad for the first time, and the kindness of a stranger who once bought him lunch when he had nothing.

What does he hope to be remembered for? Fighting for those on the margins — because everyone deserves happiness and safety.

When asked what part of himself he’s grown to love:

“My body. I should never have been scared of it — or what others think.”
