Martin - the Architect

Today, let me introduce Martin, an Architect from Banbridge now living in Jordanstown. His lovely wife Claire joined the photo shoot too—maybe we’ll have her for a solo feature in the future!

Martin’s most memorable Christmas moment has become a family favourite story. At 8 years old, he woke up early on Christmas morning, ran to the living room, and found his Christmas seat completely empty. Heartbroken, he cried for an hour, only for his mum to reveal that Santa had left his gift—a shiny new bike—in the kitchen. It’s a memory that brings plenty of laughs now!

As a child, Martin’s dream gift was a skateboard, though it took a few years before he was finally allowed one.

These days, Martin’s favourite part of Christmas is waking up to see the pure joy and excitement on his two kids’ faces. The magic of Christmas, complete with elves and surprises, makes their house a truly special place this time of year.

The family doesn’t have many unique traditions, apart from cooking way too much food and then sitting down for a festive feast that seems to end in record time!

Martin’s advice for Christmas dinner? “Prepare as much as you can the day before so you’re not stuck in the kitchen and miss all the family fun.”

If Martin could design a Belfast Christmas card, it would feature the beautiful Custom House Building, which holds special memories for him as part of its refurbishment project.

This Christmas, Martin’s biggest hope is to stay healthy and celebrate another magical holiday with his elderly parents, soaking up the love and warmth of family.
